Job Summary

The VP - Transaction Relationship Manager is a senior-level position responsible for a portfolio of deals from mandate stage through to maturity. This includes Bonds, Loans, Escrows, Account Bank, and various permutations of these, including Project finance, Repacks, Convertible Bonds, and Structured Finance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own a portfolio of deals from mandate stage through to maturity.
  • Negotiate debt capital market transactions from the perspective of trustee and agent, following an in-house playbook with requirements from legal, business, operations, risk, and compliance to maintain Citi's standards.
  • Be the primary point of contact for a portfolio of agency and trust transactions consisting of Bonds, Loans, Escrow, and Account Bank deals.
  • Have a flexible mindset for interpreting documents and dealing with a broad range of queries from arrangers, issuer/borrower, or holders.
  • Have a logical and calm approach to problem-solving while dealing with multiple work streams.
  • Have a solid understanding of banking policies and downstream impacts on clients, along with operational knowledge and how these are reflected in documentation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to better understand business concerns and know how to relay these to clients and escalate promptly when required.
  • Support the agency and trust business by improving processes and procedures and working on ad-hoc projects required by the business.
  • Assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.
Requirements
  • Ability to review and make recommendations on transaction legal documentation and liaise with legal counsel.
  • English fluent written/verbal communication skills with Chinese preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple transactions/matters simultaneously and prioritize accordingly.
  • Client-focused; pro-active with flexible attitude.
  • Team player with a sense of responsibility and collaborative spirit.
Education
  • Bachelor degree or above in legal or business-related discipline.
  • 6-10 years of DCM, ECM experience gained in a financial institution.
  • Law firm PQE 3+ in DCM, ECM or similar.
  • Corporate trust, agency & trust, and/or loan agency expertise is preferred.
