APAC Private Equity Fund Investment Director

We are seeking a seasoned Investment Director to lead our operation in Hong Kong & Shenzhen, working closely with our mainland headquarters.
This critical strategic hire will drive fund growth and manage cross-border investments across the Asia-Pacific region.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and operational manage the Hong Kong and Shenzhen offices, ensuring alignment with HQ's strategic goals.
- Develop and maintain close communication with Hainan HQ to coordinate on investment strategies, compliance, and reporting.
- Collaborate with the HQ team to source, evaluate, and execute private equity investments across APAC, focusing on growth, buyout, and emerging technology funds.
- Conduct comprehensive due diligence, portfolio construction, and monitoring of investments, ensuring alignment with HQ's objectives and performance targets.
- Build and manage relationships with fund managers, partners, and stakeholders, leveraging both local insights and HQ's resources.
- Partner with Hainan HQ on fundraising initiatives, representing Stonewood Key's investment capabilities to potential investors and institutional clients.
- Prepare presentations, pitches, and RFPs in alignment with HQ's strategic goals to drive capital commitments.
- Coordinate with Hainan HQ's compliance team to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and maximize the use of QDLP and QFLP licenses.
- Conduct risk assessments for investments, contributing to HQ's broader risk management framework.
- Monitor market trends, sector developments, and regulatory updates across APAC, particularly within mainland China, providing insights to Hainan HQ to support unified decision-making.
- Represent Stonewood Key at industry conferences and networking events, working with HQ to enhance the company's visibility and partnership base.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field; CFA or equivalent qualification is advantageous.
- 7-10+ years of private equity or asset management experience, with a focus on APAC markets and a proven track record of business success in mainland China.
- Strong understanding of mainland China's regulatory, financial, and business landscape, with experience managing cross-border investment and compliance requirements.
- In-depth knowledge of the private equity landscape in New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, India, and Korea.
- Native or fluent in Mandarin and English; Cantonese a plus.
- Demonstrated expertise in team leadership, investment analysis, and client relationship management.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with regional HQ offices to achieve strategic objectives.
