Overview of the Role

We are seeking a seasoned finance professional to join our Financial Management team in Hong Kong as a Finance Manager. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Head of Financial Management, Asia to oversee the entire financial management function, including financial analysis, reporting, and operational aspects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding and advising the Office Managing Partner and Head of Financial Management, Asia on all finance-related matters, ensuring effective and consistent financial practices across the office.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage local office financial operations, including staff reimbursement, vendor payment process, disbursement, and payroll processing.
  • Work closely with the Glasgow Financial Management team to ensure timely completion of monthly closing processes.
  • Monitor financial information for Hong Kong, complete ad-hoc analysis, and prepare commentary for key stakeholders.
  • Participate in business planning and annual budgeting processes with the Office Managing Partner, Head of Financial Management, Asia, and team lead of other business services functions.
  • Oversee time and billing processes, ensuring accurate recording of client matter time worked and timely billings.
  • Collaborate with the Working Capital Manager, Asia, and local partners to manage working capital for Hong Kong, including prompt collection of outstanding amounts and billings.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts for the Hong Kong office, investigate variances, and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Manage banking relationships, office and client bank accounts, and prepare cash flow forecasts on a regular basis.
  • Liaise with London and external advisors on tax-related matters, including reporting of partners' taxes.
  • Manage the local annual audit process, addressing audit queries and ensuring timely completion.
  • Continuously review and improve finance operation processes for efficiency.
  • Develop and manage team members.

Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant with at least 10-15 years of experience in professional services firms, preferably in law firms.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including month-end processes, accruals, prepayments, and local tax and reporting.
  • Familiarity with international accounting environments, accruals-based accounting, and multi-currency accounting.
  • Practical experience with Elite 3E and TM1 systems.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English and Chinese.
  • Computer literacy, particularly strong Excel skills, and analytical abilities.
  • Experience managing and developing teams.
  • Time management skills with ability to meet targets and deadlines.
  • Able to build trust and rapport with teammates and stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving skills with negotiation capabilities.

Salary: HK$120,000 - HK$180,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
