Job Title: School Development Officer

Job Summary:

The Hong Kong Institute of Educational Research is seeking a committed and experienced School Development Officer to join its Quality School Improvement Project (QSIP) in 2023/24. The successful candidate will provide professional school-based support to enhance the professional capacity of school leaders, middle-level leaders, and frontline teachers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide regular school-based support to partner schools to strengthen their professional capacity.
  • Train the school community to internalise the processes of building vision, setting priorities, and establishing a governance structure.
  • Conduct action learning and lesson study to promote school improvement.
  • Conceptualise experience and good practices in school improvement, including school management, learning and teaching, and student development.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • At least ten years' relevant experience in primary or secondary education, preferably in school management and leadership, and curriculum development.
  • Solid experience in leading a department/functional group.
  • Rich pedagogical content knowledge and teaching strategies in academic subject(s) to cater for learner diversity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Higher degree related to subject discipline or education.
  • Solid background equivalent to Principal Graduate Master (PGM) / Senior Graduate Master (SGM) in secondary school or Senior Primary School Master (SPSM) in primary school or above.
  • Track record in facilitating school improvement at both school-level and department-level.

Appointment:

Appointment will initially be made on a full-time/fractional-time/part-time contract basis for one to two years, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
