Job Title: Associate Curator

The Hong Kong Palace Museum is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Curator to join our team. As a key member of our curatorial department, you will play a crucial role in planning and implementing exhibitions, developing our collections, and collaborating with international partners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the Head Curator and curatorial colleagues to develop exhibition concepts, design and install exhibitions, and contribute to the development of our curatorial strategies and programmes.
  • Develop and maintain our collections, including researching and acquiring new items, and collaborating with curators and other stakeholders to ensure the collections are well-documented and preserved.
  • Coordinate with the Palace Museum on all matters related to the arrangement of displaying its collection in our exhibitions, as well as other collaborations on research and curatorial matters.
  • Plan and oversee the configuration, organisation and management of our exhibition galleries.
  • Assist in content development and conduct academic research for preparation of write-ups for museum exhibitions, publications and other programmes.
  • Review editorial, translation and transcript of all exhibition related materials and publications.
Requirements:
  • Possess a recognised university doctoral degree in Art History, History, Cultural Studies or other relevant fields.
  • Have at least 2 years of experience in planning and/or implementing exhibitions in museums or other comparable institutions.
  • Have good knowledge of new media art and other contemporary art practices related to Chinese art history.
  • Showcase strong research and communication skills to convey ideas to a wide range of audiences.
  • Possess a collaborative mindset and ability to work in a fast-moving dynamic environment.
  • Be proficient in written and spoken Chinese and English.
