Your new role

  • Support Engineering Lines in Hong Kong for underwriting activities and delivery of the planned profitability
  • Responsible for managing relationships with intermediaries, business partners, and internal stakeholders
  • Evaluate risk for new business & renewals in accordance with standards, to ensure profitable growth
  • Negotiate terms & conditions with the broker and client in accordance with corporate guidelines and underwriting rules
  • Attend external meetings with visits and site inspections where necessary
  • Adhere to legal and regulatory requirements in underwriting activities
  • Achieve key performance indicators on growth, profitability, and servicing satisfaction
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the business plan
  • Support the implementation of team strategy to achieve business targets

About you

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering and Construction is preferable or working towards relevant professional qualification
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years in underwriting or risk assessment within the commercial insurance industry
  • Thorough understanding of Engineering underwriting, procedure and reinsurance knowledge
  • Use of risk profiling and pricing tools and loss models
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, interpersonal, communication, and negotiating skills
  • Ability to analyze data and use it for decision-making
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Intermediate level understanding of relevant software, including Excel and other departmental software packages
  • Established customer/broker relationships would be an asset
  • Strong level of numeracy and literacy skills would be an asset
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant market conditions for specific class/portfolio would be an asset

Candidates with less experience may be considered as Assistant Underwriter.
