Dalton School Hong Kong is seeking a detail-oriented and organized School Accounts Officer to manage the financial operations of our growing institution. This role will assist in budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance with internal controls, ensuring transparency and accuracy in all financial transactions. This role is critical in supporting the school’s mission by maintaining sound financial practices and facilitating smooth operations. Key Responsibilities Financial Management: Handle daily accounting duties and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger, account reconciliations, and financial statements in a timely manner. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in developing and monitoring the school’s annual budget, providing forecasts and variance analyses to support strategic planning. Invoice Management and Follow-up: Process tuition payment and other services payment collection, follow up outstanding invoices with parents, ensuring timely collection of payment. Accounts Payable: Process vendor payments and manage cash flow independently to meet payment deadline. Accounts Reconciliation: Perform bank accounts and related entities current accounts reconciliation. Closing Process: Assist and support the month-end and year-end closing process and preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements. Internal Controls: Implement and monitor internal control procedures to safeguard school assets and ensure accurate financial tracking, including requiring invoices for all non-DSHK faculty payment requests. Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with rules and regulations, including tax filings and audits. Collaboration: Work closely with the Finance Department, school leadership, and external stakeholders to support financial reporting and operational efficiency. Record Keeping: Maintain organized and up-to-date digital and physical financial records for audits, reporting, and future reference. Other Duties: Provide administrative support to Finance Department and perform assigned ad-hoc duties as needed. Job Requirements Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in an educational institution or non-profit organization. Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel). Knowledge: Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), budgeting, and financial compliance regulations. Skills and Competencies Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in financial record-keeping and reporting. Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with faculty, staff, vendors, and external auditors. Problem-Solving: Identify potential issues, consider alternatives for further discussion and decision-making. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse financial data, identify discrepancies, and propose solutions. Integrity: High ethical standards, discretion, and commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of financial information. Teamwork: Collaborative mindset to work with school leadership and finance teams to achieve organizational goals. Preferred Qualifications Experience with school or non-profit financial management. Familiarity with internal control frameworks and audit preparation. Proactive with a positive attitude and able to meet deadlines.
