Teacher of Commerce (Accounting and Business) (From Aug 2026) Korean International School (KIS) is a private, independent school with over 800 students representing more than 30 nationalities. Job Purpose We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and inspirational Teacher of Commerce to join our vibrant and successful department. The successful candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with a proven track record of delivering excellent student outcomes at GCSE and A‑Level. You will be passionate about Accounting and Business, and committed to fostering a love for the subjects, equipping our students with the knowledge and skills to succeed in their further studies and future careers. Key Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and deliver high‑quality, engaging lessons in Accounting and Business across Key Stage 4 (GCSE) and Key Stage 5 (A‑Level). Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and a passion for the Commerce curriculum. Differentiated teaching to meet the needs of all learners, ensuring every student is challenged and supported to achieve their full potential. Use a variety of assessment strategies to monitor student progress, provide timely and constructive feedback, and inform future planning. Contribute to the development of schemes of work and teaching resources for the department. Establish a positive and safe learning environment that promotes high expectations and good behaviour. Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher and, when applicable, a form tutor. Contribute to the school's pastoral system (PSHE) and extra‑curricular programme. Assess, record, and report on student development, progress, and attainment in line with school policies. Prepare students for their public examinations, ensuring they are thoroughly familiar with assessment objectives and examination techniques for the Cambridge Examination Board. Write accurate and informative reports for parents and attend Parents‑Teacher Conferences. Participate in departmental meetings, training, and professional development opportunities. Contribute to the wider life of the school through involvement in extra‑curricular activities, trips, and events. Uphold and promote the values and ethos of the school at all times. Person Specification Essential Qualifications & Experience A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS) or equivalent. A degree in a relevant subject (e.g., Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field). A thorough understanding of the current GCSE and A‑Level specifications for Accounting and Business. Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes Excellent subject knowledge: deep understanding of Accounting principles (double‑entry bookkeeping, financial statements, budgeting) and Business concepts (marketing, finance, operations, human resources). Outstanding classroom practitioner: ability to inspire and motivate students, with a commitment to achieving the highest standards of learning and achievement. Data‑literate: analyse student performance data and use it to inform intervention and support. Communication and interpersonal skills: excellent verbal and written communication skills, building strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Organisational skills: highly organised, managing time effectively, meeting deadlines, and maintaining accurate records. Team player: collaborative and cooperative approach, working effectively as part of the Commerce team and the wider school community.
