Deputy General Manager - Insurance at Fleet Management Limited Join our 30‑year journey as one of the largest independent third‑party ship management companies, managing over 650 diverse vessels worldwide. Job Position Summary Lead the firm’s external insurance sales and claims process, setting and driving sales targets while managing client portfolios in alignment with business strategy and SOP. Key Roles and Responsibilities Drive the sales of FML's insurance packages Account for sales of FML insurance packages. Collaborate with Head of Insurance to define annual sales targets based on historical data and future projections. Drive the achievement of sales targets through direct reports, monitoring and reporting progress to the Head of Insurance regularly. Accountable for managing FML’s insurance portfolios. Act as the interface between customers, FML, and insurance brokers to ensure timely resolution of queries and claims processing. Guide negotiations between customers and direct reports/claims officers to resolve conflicts, escalating to the Head of Insurance if necessary. Drive continuous improvement within the department Implement continuous improvement initiatives within the department. Collaborate with the Head of Insurance and department employees to identify policy, process, or technological improvements. Implement identified initiatives within the agreed timeline and budget. Monitor adherence to timelines and budgets for continuous improvement projects and report progress to the Head of Insurance. Report outcomes of improvement initiatives to the Head of Insurance. Oversee day‑to‑day operations Manage relationships with insurance brokers. Build and sustain long‑term professional relationships with brokers to create win‑win outcomes during commercial interactions. Review and report costs Ensure departmental operations adhere to budget. Review, aggregate, and present the annual departmental budget. Assist the Head of Insurance in identifying, escalating, and resolving anomalous budget areas. Develop human capital Develop the capabilities of direct reports through mentorship and development plans. Identify and address competency gaps through performance reviews and collaboration with HR. Review and comment on workforce planning to ensure adequate staffing. Relationships Internal: (Internal relationships details omitted) External: Insurance vendors, shipbrokers, P& I clubs. Job Experience, Functional Knowledge and Qualifications Proven success in a position dealing with insurance brokering or related matters. Experience managing and developing insurance products for large clientele. Strong understanding of the fleet management industry, maritime insurance, and brokering. Bachelor’s degree in business administration and membership of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. Building relationships, accountability, problem solving, and task structuring.
