The Opportunity As our founding Visual Arts Teacher, you will design and lead our visual arts program within the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). You will inspire creativity, artistic expression, and cultural appreciation through engaging lessons and projects. This role involves integrating visual arts into the transdisciplinary PYP framework and fostering a vibrant arts culture in our school community. Duties and Responsibilities Teaching and Learning Deliver inquiry‑based visual arts lessons that develop students’ skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media. Introduce students to diverse artistic styles, techniques, and cultural traditions. Create a safe and stimulating environment that encourages exploration and creative expression. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying artistic backgrounds. Use authentic assessment strategies to provide meaningful feedback on students’ artistic development. Collaboration and Curriculum Development Collaborate with homeroom teachers to integrate visual arts into PYP Units of Inquiry. Develop and document the school’s founding PYP visual arts curriculum. Serve as the school's subject matter expert for the arts, providing resources and support to colleagues. Student Well‑being and Community Lead and develop the school's arts‑based Co‑Curricular Activities (CCAs). Organize and lead key school events that celebrate the arts, such as student art exhibitions. Foster student confidence, resilience, and self‑expression through the creative process. Requirements Essential Qualifications & Experience A recognized degree in Visual Art Education or a related field. A valid teaching license or qualification. A registered teacher with the Hong Kong Education Bureau (EDB) or be eligible for registration. Minimum 3 years of primary‑level visual arts teaching experience. Native or near‑native English proficiency. The Ideal Candidate Will Have (Desirable Attributes) Familiarity and experience with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). A pioneering mindset with a resilient, flexible, and positive "can‑do" attitude suited to a founding school. Experience teaching students with diverse linguistic backgrounds (EAL) is an advantage.
