The Kowloon East campus, our first phase, will cater for students enrolled in the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) for students in Grades 1‑5. Opportunity As our founding Music Teacher, you will design and lead our music program within the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). You will inspire creativity, musicality, and cultural appreciation through engaging lessons and performances. This role involves integrating music into the transdisciplinary PYP framework and fostering a vibrant musical culture in our school community. Duties and Responsibilities Teaching and Learning Deliver inquiry‑based music lessons that develop students’ skills in rhythm, melody, harmony, and performance. Introduce students to diverse musical genres, instruments, and traditions. Create a safe and stimulating environment that encourages exploration and creative expression. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying musical backgrounds. Use authentic assessment strategies to provide meaningful feedback on students’ musical development. Collaboration and Curriculum Development Collaborate with homeroom teachers to integrate music into PYP Units of Inquiry. Develop and document the school’s founding PYP music curriculum. Serve as the school’s music specialist, supporting colleagues with resources and expertise. Student Well‑being and Community Lead music‑based Co‑Curricular Activities (CCAs), such as choir, ensemble, or instrumental groups. Organize and direct school concerts, assemblies, and musical productions. Foster student confidence, resilience, and self‑expression through music. Requirements Essential Qualifications & Experience A recognized degree in Music Education or a related field. A valid teaching license or qualification. Registered teacher with the Hong Kong Education Bureau (EDB) or be eligible for registration. Minimum 3 years of primary‑level music teaching experience. Native or near‑native English proficiency. The Ideal Candidate Will Have (Desirable Attributes) Familiarity with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). Experience leading choirs, ensembles, and organizing performances. Ability to teach students from diverse linguistic backgrounds (EAL experience is a plus). Flexible, pioneering mindset suited to a founding school.
