Position: Private Equity Associate

Location: Hong Kong

JOB PURPOSE:

  • Reporting to Group Head of Investment Advisory – Private Equity for strategies, identifying investment opportunities and asset management in certain geography (e.g. Asia, Europe, America) or strategies (e.g. buyout, growth venture, infrastructure, distressed, secondaries, etc).
  • Play a role in evaluating potential fund investment and conducting market research and peer comparison, developing investment recommendations and managing the subscription process of the potential investment.
  • Support Group Head in managing relationships and monitoring of existing fund relationship in certain geography or strategies.
  • Conduct the development of Private Equity related investment products and potential investors, together with the Group Head.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluation of Investment Opportunities
    • Updating of market investment opportunities such as fund calendar and peer comparison fund summaries.
    • Support Group Head on developing investment recommendation on shortlisted funds.
    • Making presentation of recommendation to shortlisted funds semi-annually to Tokyo HQ/ clients.
    • Review, analyze investment opportunities, develops and write investment recommendations for potential investment opportunities.
    • Making presentation to Tokyo HQ on investment recommendations.
    • Make reference calls on relevant investment opportunities.
    • Review legal checklist for potential investment opportunities.
    • Coordinate with Tokyo HQ on calling investment committee procedure and manage timeline for subscription.
  • Conduct Market Research
    • Periodically, at least semi-annually, conduct market research for circulation to relevant parties.
    • Based on the market research, support Group Head in developing investment strategies in certain region.
  • Monitoring Investments
    • Reviews capital calls and distribution of related fund managers.
    • Coordinates with Team secretary and Team fund administrative officer with respect to monitoring ongoing investments capital call, distributions, etc.
    • Oversees the existing fund managers and ongoing financial performance of portfolio companies.
    • As needed basis, presentation of fund performance.
  • Attending Investor Conferences and one-to-one meetings with external managers
    • As best practice, complete meeting memo as soon as practicable for circulation to relevant parties.
  • Develop investment products/services, and potential investors
    • Prepare any presentation materials and make presentations to potential clients in order to explain the company's private equity business and understand such clients' interest.
    • Communicate with any internal / external counterparties to develop investment products.
  • Participate and contributing to regular internal meetings.
  • Assists in training junior team members.
  • Other relevant duties and projects as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 2 years of relevant private equity experience with an interest in fund-of-funds.
  • Strong interpersonal skill, communication skills (oral and written) as well as presentation skills.
  • Solid research, financial modelling, analytical and valuation skills.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Team player who is used to working in high performance culture.
  • Fluent in English, Putonghua and Cantonese.
