Role Description

Our US client is urgently looking for a Director of PMO in Hong Kong SAR. The Director of PMO will be responsible for program management, project portfolio management, project management, and project planning on a day-to-day basis.

Job Brief:

The role is responsible for collaborating with corporate senior leadership to help prioritize project initiatives and implement project management strategies which align with business growth; managing new product development, and the allocation of projects to internal or external parties to optimize resource usage and support category growth; assigning team members to various deliverables. Analyzing financial data, managing and monitoring project budgets, risk mitigation, and resource allocation. Driving strategic initiatives to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and identify ways to enhance overall operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the development of the project and ensuring that team members are carrying out their tasks efficiently while upholding the company's standards.
  • Drafting new and improving existing project management office policies and processes.
  • Continuously evaluating projects to ensure they are meeting company standards, adhering to budgets, and meeting deadlines.
  • Accurately documenting the project's creation, development, and execution as well as documenting the project's scope, budget, and justification.
  • Overseeing the execution of key projects, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards with regular status reports/reviews to stakeholders and providing actionable insights to drive continuous improvement.
  • Proactively participating and collaborating with key stakeholders to define the project goals, KPIs, and project plan.
  • Developing/utilizing metrics and KPIs to track project performance and strategic alignment; proactively identifying risks and issues and working closely with teams to develop mitigation strategies.
  • Implementing Project Management toolsets for project performance (End to end product lifecycle), ensuring alignment with business objectives and milestones/timelines are met:
  • Smartsheet for consistent project tracking.
  • Gantt Charts/Project Roadmap/Dependencies.
  • Priority Tracker on key projects with status and business owners (R&R).
  • Documentation of potential risks and mitigations with impact assessment.
  • Managing hands-on project and stakeholder management.
  • Driving new product development initiatives to support category growth.
  • Staying actively involved in the key projects from the operational level to understand challenges and provide guidance across cross-functional teams.
  • Providing guidance and support to project managers and teams.
  • Proactively addressing concerns or risks and managing changes effectively through mitigation strategies to ensure projects remain on track and minimize any unpredictable impacts.
  • Facilitating project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Ensuring compliance with project management best practices and organizational policies.
  • Coordinating with stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Overseeing new product development projects from inception to completion.
  • Providing training and development for project management staff.
  • Creating mechanisms for continuous feedback from stakeholders throughout the entire product lifecycle via an agile approach or post-mortem review sessions.
  • Conducting project audits and reviews to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
  • Managing project documentation and maintaining accurate records.
  • Presenting data-driven reports and actionable insights from data analysis to stakeholders to enable Senior Management for decision-making.
  • Collaborating with marketing teams to ensure alignment of project goals with market strategies and promotional activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management or a related role.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Asana).
  • Knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure.
