No. HKWCA Key Dates Application Deadline: 15 December 2025 Date of Issue: 1 December 2025 Position Title: Contract Part-time Assistant Social Work Officer Rank: Hospital/ Medical Social Services, The Duchess of Kent Children's Hospital at Sandy Bay Pay: HK$ 39,485 to HK$ 87,341 (HGPS Point 16 to 33) per month, including Monthly Allowance To be pro-rated based on the total package and work pattern for a full-time Assistant Social Work Officer depending on the work hours. The selected candidate will be offered a contract employment with up to 15% of total basic salary (after deduction of Mandatory Provident Fund) as contract‑end gratuity upon satisfactory completion of the contract. Key Responsibilities Provide psycho-social assessment and intervention for patients. Process pre-admission and discharge planning. Render counselling service for needy patients and their families. Develop, coordinate and support hospital/cluster-based services and projects under MSS and Patient Resource Centre. Collaborate with health care professionals and community partners to facilitate patients’ rehabilitation and reintegration into the community. Conduct and participate in activities related to continuous quality improvement and service evaluation. Perform any job-related duties assigned by senior. Requirements A degree in Social Work from a local university, or equivalent. A degree from a local university, or equivalent and a successful completion of a one‑year post‑graduate course in Social Work at a local university, or equivalent. A degree from a local university, or equivalent and a successful completion of a two‑year post‑graduate course in Social Work or a Master’s degree in Social Work from a local university, or equivalent. Equivalent qualifications are recognised for registration with the Social Workers Registration Board. Registration with and a valid registration certificate issued by the Hong Kong Social Workers Registration Board. Fluency in written English and Chinese as well as spoken English and Cantonese. Preferred Attributes / Exposure Grade E in English Language (Syllabus B) and Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, or Level 2 in English and Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education, or equivalent. Working experience in family service, medical social service or elderly setting. Proficient interpersonal and communication skills. Strong drive to help and utilize various social work approaches/therapies in patient care. Empathy with commitment to patient care. Ability to build internal and external partnerships with strong team spirit. Contract Details Appointment will be on contract part-time terms up to 3 years.
