We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading consultancy clients They are currently looking for a skilled Business Analyst to take responsibility for elements of product delivery within the Global ETF Product team with a focus on the Asia market.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives


You will be responsible for ETF Product change and will work closely with the ETF Product team in Hong Kong. The role will involve carrying out detailed analysis to provide requirements to define the current and future ETF operating model. The BA will play a key role in influencing the design of any proposed changes and solutions for our ETF operating model.

  • Ensure that sound business analysis disciplines are properly applied to all assigned projects in line with Group standards. Ensure timely and quality project deliverables to meet agreed internal or external requirements.
  • Clearly define & document in detail the existing end to end ETF operating model within each country/region.
  • Use that information to support the "localisation" of HSBC's ETF order management system for deployment in the Asia region.
  • Perform the analysis and planning to deliver our ETF NAV Attribution reporting (live in Europe today) to Asian clients
  • For any new ETF product, or changes to an existing product, gather the requirements from ETF Product, Administration and Operations business teams and ensure that these are understood, reviewed and signed off. This will include requirements for servicing ETFs in Taiwan
  • Translation of business requirements and designs into more detailed functional requirements
  • Ensure that the requirements are successfully delivered. This is achieved through close working with both the ETF product team and relevant business lines to ensure current processes and future requirements are fully understood and documented, and changes to these as a result of a project are clearly communicated.
  • Where relevant, work with external vendors to deliver to the agreed requirements
  • Participating in change management activities which can include tasks such as timeline planning, tracking progress to stakeholder engagement.
  • In the implementation phase or any project or sub-project be responsible for preparation of test scripts and scenarios against the documented requirements, and the training, management and support in the execution of UAT and Regression Testing.
  • Provides the Product Owner with administrative support whilst evolving Product roadmap, creation of epics and writing of user stories and managing the product backlog
  • Understands risk exposure to the bank and helps senior colleagues manage it
  • Expected to take a full and active role in meetings & workshops to provide input into strategic as well as tactical debates, with particular emphasis on how the business can support the architecture.
  • Expected to raise any risks & issues with the Project Manager
  • Provide expert support to our global ETF Operations teams

Required Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Previous ETF experience an advantage; understanding of the ETF order lifecycle from trading to settlement, understanding of ETF service model withing the broader Securities Services business
  • Previous experience working on multiple projects in parallel and ability to prioritise accordingly.
  • Proven ability to produce detailed process workflows using tools such as MS Visio
  • Strong project experience applying proven methodologies, standards and tools in the preparation of analysis, Business Requirements, User Acceptance Testing, and deployments.
  • Proven Product Delivery or Client On-boarding and migration experience.
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills; must be capable of producing clear, unambiguous status reports, writing detailed reports, minutes and actions, making presentations to internal and external audiences, and interacting positively with IT and business management, users, vendors and HSS Group PMO
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues, clients and third parties. Prior client-facing and stakeholder management experience is highly desirable
  • Must be able to work independently. Must have strong process re-engineering and problem solving skills, and be self-directed.
  • Experience working in a large, Global Project Team would be advantageous in this role
  • The role will involve considerable exposure to global business users as well as IT Analysts so the role holder must have pertinent product/area knowledge. In addition, the role holder will need to work with any vendor's project resources
  • Ability to plan and organise workload to meet deadlines, taking into account relative priorities
  • Proficiency in the creation of critical path project plans, workflow diagrams, production of functional specifications, and the development/execution of detailed test plans is essential
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related discipline.
  • Advanced skills in use of MS Project, Visio and MS Office software is expected.

  • Is aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations for clients globally.
