Associate Director - Data Science .Principal Responsibilities

Role PurposeAs a member of the Global Research team, this role is part of our growth plan to extend our thought leadership across Data Science and analytics to help all parts of the bank. The incumbent will build predictive machine learning models and apply modern Natural Language Processing techniques to financial markets. This role involves working with all asset classes to create a commercial product and present and discuss research with a global client base of sophisticated investors including other departments within the bank.Principal Accountabilities

Developing predictive models across all asset classesApplying modern Natural Language Processing techniques to financial market textsIncorporating data-driven investment insights into research publicationsDiscussing research with clients of HSBC Global ResearchAll interactions must be correctly logged in the CRM systemCustomers / Stakeholders

To actively engage with clients through meetings/callsTo work closely with Research Marketing, sales, sales trading, trading (market makers), to ensure dissemination of information and coordinated flow of information to clientsProactively improve service to clients with regular calls, meetings and service requestsProactively contribute to vote collection to get your team and the HSBC research department ranked in targeted external surveysLeadership & Teamwork

To work effectively with the Global Research teams across asset classesDevelop our inclusive culture and practices in order to mitigate the effects of unconscious bias in our decision makingOperational Effectiveness & Control

To understand, and ensure compliance with, all relevant internal and external rules, regulations, and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved. Particularly in line with the DIM and Employment handbookCompliance

Adherence to Global Research's policies and procedures as laid out in the Desk Instruction Manual (DIM), Functional Instruction Manual (FIM) and any other relevant group policies and proceduresAny FIM dispensations must be formally reviewed and agreed by the jobholderEnsure a strong awareness of risk and reputational risk, both internally and when dealing with clientsObservation of Internal Controls

Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulatorsFollows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policyEnsure 100% completion of mandatory and required training on time
