Junior Credit Analyst Trainee

Location: Hong Kong

Sector: Corporate & Investment Banking

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive credit evaluations for corporate clients by preparing well-structured and articulate credit proposals for new requests and renewals of credit facilities.
  • Assess and provide recommendations on credit limits requested by the coverage team and business lines, ensuring alignment with the bank's risk appetite and the client's credit profile.
  • Perform regular and timely annual reviews and renewals of credit facilities.
  • Review and evaluate the client's obligor rating at least once a year, or as necessitated by significant events, while maintaining accurate ratings in the bank's rating system.
  • Enhance credit file productivity and processing efficiency, responding promptly to credit inquiries.
  • Facilitate and oversee the credit approval process by coordinating with relevant approvers and risk officers.
  • Report on significant business events, financial trends, industry developments, and other pertinent issues affecting clients' financial positions.
  • Provide backup support to fellow credit analysts.
  • Assist in special projects or assignments as directed by the team leader.

Reporting Duties

  • Support the generation of weekly deal flow, track annual reviews, monitor credit volume statistics, and conduct portfolio analytics. Act as a backup to the data analyst within the team.
  • Collaborate with other credit analysts to monitor credit exposure, concentration risks, financial covenants, and credit conditions; verify data and assist with reporting requirements in these areas.

  • Adhere to internal credit policies, procedures, and the bank's code of conduct.
  • Maintain a high level of personal integrity and uphold the bank's ethical standards in all professional and personal conduct.

Candidate Profile

  • A degree in a relevant field from a recognized university (an MBA or professional qualifications such as CFA or CPA are preferred).
  • Previous experience in financial risk analysis or as an assistant corporate relationship manager is advantageous.
  • Strong skills in accounting, corporate finance, and credit analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities with analytical thinking.
  • Familiarity with data analytics and related fields.
  • Ability to learn quickly and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Attention to detail and capability for self-review.
  • Basic understanding of various banking products, particularly in commercial and transaction banking, as well as treasury products.
  • Basic knowledge of the regulatory and business landscape in Greater China.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, VBA, Microsoft Access, PowerPoint is essential).
  • Strong communication skills, with fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese (both spoken and written) required; proficiency in French is a plus.

This position is a fixed-term contract for a duration of 12 months with Société Générale Assurances. The selected candidate will join the team on a full-time basis.
