Junior Credit Analyst Trainee

Location: Hong Kong

Department: Corporate & Investment Banking

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform credit assessments for corporate clients by drafting clear, concise, and well-supported credit proposals for new requests and renewals of credit facilities.
  • Analyze and provide recommendations on credit limits requested by the coverage team and business units, aligning with the bank's risk appetite and the client's credit profile.
  • Conduct timely annual reviews and renewals of credit facilities.
  • Review and evaluate the client's obligor rating at least once a year or as necessitated by special circumstances, ensuring valid ratings are maintained in the bank's rating system.
  • Enhance credit file productivity and processing efficiency while responding promptly to credit inquiries.
  • Facilitate and oversee the credit approval process by coordinating with relevant approvers and risk officers.
  • Report on significant business events, financial trends, industry developments, and other pertinent issues affecting clients' financial positions.
  • Provide backup support to fellow credit analysts.
  • Assist in special projects or assignments as directed by the team leader.

Reporting Duties

  • Aid in weekly deal flow generation, annual review tracking, credit volume statistics, and portfolio analytics. Additionally, serve as backup support to the data analyst within the Corporate Real Estate division.
  • Collaborate with other credit analysts to monitor credit exposure, concentration risks, financial covenants, and credit conditions; verify data and support reporting requirements in these areas.

  • Adhere to applicable internal credit policies, procedures, and the bank's code of conduct.
  • Maintain a high level of personal integrity and uphold the bank's ethical standards in both professional and personal conduct.

Candidate Profile

  • A degree in a relevant field from a recognized university (MBA or professional qualifications such as CFA or CPA are preferred).
  • Previous experience in financial risk analysis or as an assistant corporate relationship manager is advantageous.
  • Strong skills in accounting, corporate finance, and credit analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities with analytical thinking.
  • Familiarity with data analytics and related fields.
  • Quick learner with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Attention to detail and a strong self-checking ability.
  • Basic understanding of various banking products, particularly in commercial and transaction banking, as well as treasury products.
  • Basic knowledge of the regulatory and business environment in Greater China.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, VBA, Microsoft Access, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication skills, with fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese (both spoken and written); proficiency in French is a plus.

This is a fixed-term 12-month trainee contract with Société Générale Assurances. You will be part of the team on a full-time basis. To apply for the trainee position, please ensure you have completed your qualifications and are available to work full-time for the duration of the trainee contract.
