Position Overview

This position is integral to the core actuarial team within the Asian market, tasked with shaping the actuarial strategy for the region.

The individual in this role will collaborate closely with the Regional Head of Pricing, focusing primarily on traditional pricing activities, which encompass Mortality, Morbidity, and various reinsurance business segments provided by RGA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the reviewer and approver for reinsurance quotations and pricing foundations within the region, offering guidance and feedback to local pricing teams as necessary.
  • Conduct research on the latest industry trends and developments to aid in the formulation of pricing foundations.
  • Lead experience study experts in the regional office and provide technical assistance across RGA Asia as needed.
  • Identify opportunities and deliver business support for initiatives aimed at optimizing the management of local and regional offices from pricing, capital, or in-force management perspectives.
  • Act as the Local Chief Pricing Actuary across RGA Asia when required.
  • Provide assistance on in-force management projects or transactions as necessary.
  • Engage in internal and external actuarial community meetings to represent RGA Asia.
  • Proactively identify emerging risk areas and propose suitable controls and actions.
  • Deliver training or instruction to familiarize new Chief Pricing Actuaries with corporate and divisional pricing standards and practices.
  • Support the development and implementation of Pricing Best Practices throughout Asia.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Accreditation as a fellow or associate in a globally recognized actuarial association (e.g., Society of Actuaries, Canadian Institute of Actuaries, Institute of Actuaries in Australia, UK, or equivalent).
  • Over 10 years of full-time experience in life insurance or reinsurance.
  • Proficiency in AXIS software.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong persuasion and negotiation skills for resolving issues with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly organized and delivery-oriented, with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations proactively.
  • Adaptability to implement new methods and work towards defined deadlines.
  • Flexibility in working hours to accommodate multiple time zones of peers and key stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with the capability to work independently.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
  • Proficiency in Asian languages is desirable.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Asian life insurance markets and product lines.
  • Solid understanding of various individual life insurance products.
  • Strong client service orientation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective presentation abilities.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Innovative, proactive, and focused on continuous improvement.
