Role Overview

At Cathay Pacific, we are dedicated to cultivating the next generation of aviation leaders. If you possess a strong enthusiasm for flying and a desire to build a career in the aviation sector, we encourage you to explore this opportunity.

By participating in the Cathay Pacific Cadet Pilot Programme, you will receive comprehensive training funded by the company to achieve a Commercial Pilot License, enabling you to operate various flight routes including regional, long-haul, and ultra-long-haul services. Cadets will engage in ground training at prestigious institutions both locally and internationally. Flight training will be conducted at renowned aviation training organizations in the United States or Australia. Applications for the 55-60 week Cathay Pacific Cadet Pilot Programme are accepted throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

Preparation for Flight:

  • Delivering extensive ground school theory training to enhance your skills, knowledge, and confidence.
  • Offering guidance from top-tier instructors who will impart essential flying theories, systems, and regulations necessary for success as an airline pilot.

Flight Training:

  • Gaining experience in both single-engine and multi-engine light aircraft.
  • Practicing in jet aircraft simulators while learning about Airline Operating Procedures, Large Jet Handling, and Multi-Crew Operations.
Requirements
  • Eligibility to live and work in Hong Kong or the Chinese Mainland.
  • Completion of secondary education with commendable results in English and Mathematics or Science; a university degree or specialization in aviation is advantageous.
  • Physical fitness and qualification for a Civil Aviation Department (HKCAD) Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • Ability to meet flight deck reach requirements, which may include a static reach test and flight simulator reach assessment.
  • Achievement of ICAO English Language Proficiency level 4 or higher.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Possession of a COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate.

Upon successful completion of the Cathay Pacific Cadet Pilot Programme, further information regarding a position as a Second Officer with Cathay Pacific will be provided.
