The Treasury team within the Finance Office at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is responsible for managing the University's working capital and monitoring of the long-term investments by its endowment funds and Superannuation Schemes. It also prepares financial analysis and long-term projections to support the development of the University as well as setting of financial policies such as endowment spending and investment return accounting / allocation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in setting investment policies of the University's funds and Superannuation Schemes, ensuring alignment with the University's strategic objectives.
  • Analyze and report on investment performance, providing insights to inform decision-making.
  • Account for and allocate investment income, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Develop medium- to long-term cash and financial projections, supporting the University's financial planning.
  • Contribute to the development of treasury policies and day-to-day working capital planning and surplus funds investment.
  • Manage banking relationships and oversee the performance of approved banks and compliance of counterparty limits.
  • Evaluate and implement best practices to the University's treasury operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Supervise and develop treasury staff, providing guidance and support to ensure their success.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's or higher degree with a recognized professional accounting qualification and/or a CFA holder.
  • At least 5 years of relevant working experience at managerial level in an endowment/foundation, international fund house or finance/private banking.
  • Comprehensive corporate treasury knowledge in banking operations, cash management, investment performance measurement/analysis and accounting.
  • Hands-on experience in dealing with and monitoring of banks, fund managers and consultants.
  • Excellent writing skills in presenting reports and proposals to senior management and the University's governing bodies.
  • A good team player with exceptional analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
