Job Description:

About the Role:
The ABN AMRO Clearing Bank is seeking a talented Middleware Solutions Architect to join its IT Global Technology Services Platform Team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability and performance of the bank's Middleware/Application environments. This involves maintenance, build, and performance tuning of AAC Crown Jewel applications and MW solutions. Additionally, you will work with the architecture team to provide expertise in defining and implementing a global infrastructure to support existing and future projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure availability and performance of AAC Middleware/Application environments.
  • Maintenance, build, and performance tuning of AAC Crown Jewel applications and MW solutions.
  • Work with architecture team to provide expertise in defining and implementing a global infrastructure to support existing and future projects.
  • Provide expertise to development team regarding development and deployment best practices and configuration for AAC applications.
  • Ownership of technical workloads including hosting Sprint meetings.
  • Work closely with support team colleagues to ensure that associated hardware resources for Middle Tiers are configured for optimum performance and availability.
  • Proactively monitor Middleware/Application Servers to ensure minimum downtime.
  • Provide regular trend analysis to track Middleware/Application Servers performance and throughput for capacity planning purposes.
  • Responsible for enhancements, maintenance, and upgrades to Middle Tier environments.
  • Work with business, development, and technical colleagues to manage and implement changes.
  • Analyse potential hardware problems prior to contacting third-party support. Escalate problems to third-party support when necessary – acting as a point of contact.
  • Resolve problems when they arise providing details of the resolution in the call logging system. Liaise with users to ensure fast and satisfactory problem resolution.
  • Develop automated housekeeping and alerting tasks to reduce manual intervention.
  • Investigate and develop methods for performance optimisation and prevention of recurring problems.
  • Maintain system documentation.
  • Ensure all system and application changes are approved via the appropriate Change Control methods.
  • Develop and maintain runbooks for High Availability and Disaster Recovery tests and plan and execute these tests.
  • Implement bank’s business applications running in development, test, and production environments. This includes installation of applications, releases, and patch management as well as upgrades.
  • Keep up-to-date with existing and emerging middleware technologies and integrate with development/architecture teams on their suitability for use within the bank.
