Data Solutions Architect


We are seeking a highly skilled Data Solutions Architect to join our team at Options Group (Hong Kong). As a key member of our Front Office Technology team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable data solutions tailored to the needs of our clients in the hedge fund industry.


The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud platforms, data storage and processing services, and experience with modern data storage/querying technologies. They will also possess advanced SQL expertise, solid programming skills in Python, and familiarity with high-performance coding languages like C#, F#, C++, or Java.


In this role, you will work closely with clients to identify their unique requirements and develop effective data solutions that integrate new financial data sets, create data pipelines, and establish external connections. You will also design and implement automated data quality checks throughout the development and data lifecycle, ensuring the integrity, reliability, and quality of data.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Professional Experience: At least 5 years of experience in the financial sector, particularly in Front Office Technology or Quantitative roles, with a preference for candidates with hedge fund experience.

  • Technical Expertise:

    • Proficient with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and associated data storage/processing services (e.g., AWS RDS, S3, MSK).
    • Strong Linux skills.
    • Advanced SQL expertise and experience with modern data storage/querying technologies (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) and formats (Parquet, Iceberg).
    • Solid programming skills in Python and familiarity with high-performance coding in languages like C#, F#, C++, or Java.
    • Background in test automation, preferably using DBT, to support high standards and rapid changes.
    • Knowledge of production monitoring with tools like Grafana, Prometheus, DataDog, or ELK.
    • Familiarity with data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow) and data retrieval methods (e.g., sFTP, vendor APIs).
    • Experience with integrating third-party data sources and APIs typical in hedge funds.

  • Financial Data Acumen: Understanding of market and reference data, particularly across various asset classes, and familiarity with hedge fund data workflows, real-time data requirements, and financial compliance issues (licensing, access control).

  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication abilities with both Front Office stakeholders and technical teams, a collaborative spirit, curiosity, and the capability to thrive in an agile environment.
