At Sun Life, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Actuarial Intern to join our team for a 6-month full-time internship placement. As an Actuarial Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various actuarial tasks and develop a deep understanding of the operations of a global leading insurance firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare special quotes and illustrations, regular statistical returns, and reports
  • Participate in product development and implementation processes, including experience studies, market comparisons, and User Acceptance Tests (UAT)
  • Maintain customer databases and prepare related statistics
  • Support actuarial valuation modeling work
  • Support annual experience studies
  • Support reinsurance reporting and monthly valuation processes
  • Assist in analyzing ALM strategies for operating and surplus segments to optimize risk-return trade-offs

Requirements:

  • Year 2-4 student in Actuarial Studies or other quantitative subjects such as Statistics, Data Science, Risk Management, etc.
  • Some progress in SOA Actuarial examination or equivalent but not required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, FoxPro
  • Programming skills and knowledge of GGY AXIS will be an advantage
  • Good analytical and communication skills
