The Centre for Cerebro-cardiovascular Health Engineering (COCHE) is a leading research centre established to tackle cardiovascular disease, the world's leading cause of morbidity and mortality. In collaboration with top institutions, COCHE focuses on developing innovative technologies to enable early prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of cardiovascular disease.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge solutions for cardiovascular disease. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and integration of control systems and imaging systems, as well as collaboration with engineers and researchers on applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop control systems and imaging systems for medical devices;
  • Collaborate with engineers and researchers on application development;
  • Support the improvement and design of medical device prototypes;
  • Handle document preparation and ensure strict documentation of output;
  • Perform testing and adjustment tasks of medical device prototypes;

Requirements

  • Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a closely related field;
  • Previous experience in areas including development of control systems, algorithms, UI design, and project management;
  • Independent working ability in system design with practical experience in computer programming;
  • Routinely work with one or more programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Python, etc.;
  • Strong background in coordinating software and hardware development;
  • Related track records in conducting applied research are highly preferred;
  • Excellent oral communication and written skills in English;
  • Good organisational and analytical abilities;
  • Mature, responsible, hardworking, and able to work independently and as a team member;

Compensation and Benefits

The remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include leave and medical insurance. Initial appointments will be made on a fixed-term contract of up to 1-3 years, with reappointment subject to performance and mutual agreement.
