About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Data Science and Applied AI team in Asia. As the Head of Data Science and Applied AI, you will be responsible for developing and productionising AI/ML solutions in banking/finance, managing a team of Data Scientists, and working closely with stakeholders across Sales, Trading, and IT.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify opportunities and document business cases for new AI solutions with stakeholders across Sales, Trading, and IT.
  • Manage junior Data Scientists and AI Developers to successfully complete prioritised projects.
  • Build a culture of rapid innovation and scalable development of AI tools within a robust end-to-end control framework.
  • Ensure all model and AI risk management requirements are met prior to moving any tools into production.
  • Serve as a key contact and subject matter expert on Data Science, AI, and AI risk management for colleagues within MSS and across Asia.
  • Develop relationships with key Data Science/AI teams across MSS and ensure they are working collaboratively, leveraging existing tools where appropriate.
  • Work closely with Regulatory Compliance, Legal, Model Risk, and Regulatory Liaison to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory landscapes.
Requirements
  • PhD in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related subfield.
  • Extensive years of experience developing and productionising AI/ML solutions in banking/finance.
  • Strong planning, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to prioritise workloads across a landscape of competing demands.
  • Ability to build lasting working relationships with stakeholders from various business and technical backgrounds.
  • Previous experience identifying and managing risks, issues, and dependencies related to complex Data Science/AI projects.
