Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated Grocery Products Buyer to join our team at Migros Asia. As a key member of our procurement department, you will be responsible for sourcing high-quality grocery products for our stores.

Responsibilities:

  • SOURCE NEW SUPPLIERS: Identify and source new suppliers that meet our quality standards.
  • Negotiate with Producers/Suppliers: Negotiate prices, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure the best deals.
  • Ensure Product Quality Standards: Independently handle sample measurement and evaluation to ensure quality standards are met.
  • COORDINATE SAMPLES ARRANGEMENT: Receive, unpack, prepare for checking, pack, and send samples to buyers, manage storage and clearance, and finalize artwork and print proofs.
  • Finalize Artwork and Print Proofs: Collaborate with the supervisor to finalize artwork and print proofs.
  • Confirm Price Labels and Carton Labels: Ensure accuracy by confirming price labels and carton labels.
  • REMIND SUPPLIER ABOUT FRI AND INLINE INSPECTION BOOKING DEADLINES: Keep suppliers on track by reminding them about FRI and inline inspection booking deadlines.
  • Liaise with Logistics Department: Monitor vessel bookings and closing dates with the logistics department.
  • Support General Clerical Duties: Assist with general clerical duties as needed.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or above, relevant experience in grocery products (canned food, products with Asian origin e.g. noodles, sauces, and snacks, frozen fish) and experience in a European or Swiss food retailer business is an advantage.
  • Experience of at least 3-5 years in sourcing/buying office or trading company.
  • Conversant with MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Internet.
  • Fluent in spoken & written English, Cantonese & Mandarin is a must.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work in a team, and attention to details.
  • Hardworking, good time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle pressure and willing to do routine work.
