Position Overview
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is looking for qualified individuals to fill the role of Assistant Officer (Research Support). This position will report directly to the Research Support Manager and will involve collaboration with the team to provide essential research assistance to the university community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the management of the Scholarly Publication Databases (SPD) and develop/maintain author profiles;
- Input and verify research output information in SPD and related research management systems;
- Recruit and manage student assistants for SPD tasks;
- Offer logistical and administrative support for workshops and library events aimed at researchers;
- Perform counter service duties during designated shifts;
- Execute additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Applicants should possess an associate degree or bachelor's degree, with a preference for candidates having 1-2 years of relevant experience. Experience in an academic library setting is advantageous;
- Familiarity with bibliographic databases, author identity management, and descriptive metadata is beneficial;
- Fluency in both spoken and written English and Chinese is required;
- Strong attention to detail, self-motivation, a positive demeanor, and effective teamwork skills are essential.
Contract Duration: 2 years, with the possibility of renewal.
Compensation: Salary will be based on qualifications and experience, with additional benefits including annual leave, medical, and dental coverage. A gratuity will be awarded upon successful contract completion.
