Data Governance Strategist

At SMBC Group, we are seeking a highly skilled Vice President to lead our Data Governance efforts. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive data governance strategy that promotes data quality and ensures clear accountability and ownership of data assets throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities:- Formulate and implement a data governance framework that encompasses data classifications, data dictionaries, metadata management, data lineage, and data quality controls.
- Coordinate discussions between stakeholders regarding data governance and quality requirements, and address any data-related issues or gaps.
- Establish and maintain a data governance framework that promotes data quality and ensures clear accountability and ownership of data assets.
- Manage and maintain all data governance-related documentation, including data dictionaries, data definitions, and other relevant materials.
- Facilitate and promote the usage and adoption of data governance tools, processes, standards, and procedures.
- Develop metrics and reports to measure key performance indicators such as data quality, accuracy, and completeness.
- Degree holder with qualifications related to data governance and management.
- 4-5 years' direct experience in data governance and management.
- Experience working in a consulting firm for banks and financial institutions, or as an in-house practitioner in a bank or financial institution.
- Knowledge of related ordinances and trends in data policy and procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Fluency in English and Cantonese, with proficiency in Japanese a plus.
