The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is in search of a dynamic and skilled individual for the role of Librarian (Archives & Special Collections). This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Library Services.
The successful candidate will be part of a dedicated team responsible for overseeing the University Archives and Special Collections.
The University Archives plays a crucial role in the curation and preservation of HKUST's historical records and artifacts, while the Special Collections boast an esteemed assortment of antique maps and rare scientific texts.
These collections feature items dating from the 15th to the 19th centuries, many of which are written in Latin and various European languages.
In collaboration with fellow librarians, the appointee will handle all facets of the collections, including management, conservation, digitization, exhibition development, and promoting the use of these resources for educational and research purposes.
The role also involves working alongside librarians from other departments and contributing to various library-wide initiatives.
Applicants should hold a Master of Library Science or an equivalent qualification, with a minimum of two years of relevant experience. Specialized expertise in archival management or special collections is highly desirable. Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Chinese is essential. Candidates must demonstrate effective communication skills with diverse stakeholders within and outside the university. Those with less experience may be considered for the position of Assistant Manager (Archives & Special Collections).
(Contract Duration:
2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be aligned with qualifications and experience. Benefits include annual leave, medical and dental coverage. A gratuity will be awarded upon successful contract completion.
