About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to join our Global Markets Trading team as Head of Repo, Rates and Debt Trading. This is a key leadership role that requires a strong understanding of trading operations, risk management, and team management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Manage and oversee the Repo Trading (RPT), Interest Rate Trading (IRM), and Counterparty Exposure Management (CEM) teams in Hong Kong.
    • Lead the teams to deliver both financial and non-financial targets.
  • Strategic Priorities and Business Initiatives
    • Formulate and drive the strategic priorities and business initiatives of RPT, IRM, CEM, and Global Markets at a broader level.
  • Front Office Supervision
    • Responsible for Front Office Supervision and ensure best-in-class procedures with proper and effective control are in place and implemented.
    • Ensure Key Risk Indicators reports are well scrutinized and signed off in a timely manner.
  • Trading Strategies and Risk Management
    • Formulate trading strategies for RPT, IRM, CEM, and ensure the teams are running according to the plan.
    • Oversee the operation of RPT, IRM, CEM to ensure the overall risk position (e.g., interest rate, credit, liquidity risk, etc.) is properly managed and within the set limits.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Manage stakeholders with both external (regulators, interbank counterparties) and internal (Global Markets sales teams, non-Global Markets distribution channels, second line of defense, etc.).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Promote cross-functional, cross-business, and cross-border collaborations.
    • Work closely with sales channels and key stakeholders on effective product launch and strategies delivery.
  • Product Knowledge and Market Intelligence
    • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the product areas, including market liquidity, volatility, pricing, and trading strategies.
    • Lead RPT, IRM, CEM to provide consistent and accurate pricing service to sales force and clients, and provide market information or insights to sales teams.
  • Team Development and Succession Planning
    • Encourage the team to fully understand, embrace, and act according to the Value and Purpose of Hang Seng Bank Limited.
    • Dedicate to team members' career development and formulate succession plans for critical roles within the team.
Requirements
  • Education
    • University degree in Quantitative Finance, Finance, or Mathematics or a related discipline.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 8 years' relevant experience in Repo and Rates, with experience in Credit Trading preferred.
  • Skills and Competencies
    • People management and front office supervision experience with a strong control mindset.
    • Good communication, interpersonal, analytical skills, and detail-oriented.
    • Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective customer service processes and communication with top management and other departments.
    • Strong sense of financial and non-financial risk from a trading perspective.
    • Proficiency in both English and Chinese.
