TaiKang (Hong Kong) Preparatory Office is a dynamic organization committed to delivering exceptional services in underwriting. We are seeking an experienced and skilled Master Underwriter Director to join our team.

About the Role

  • This is a senior-level position responsible for leading a team of underwriters and driving initiatives to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert: Provide guidance and support to underwriters on complex cases, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and risk management principles.
  • Drive Initiatives: Lead and implement projects aimed at improving process efficiency, streamlining internal processes, and enhancing customer service delivery.
  • Negotiate Reinsurance: Establish and maintain relationships with reinsurers, negotiating reinsurance-related matters to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Develop SOPs: Create, review, and conduct quality control of Standard Operating Procedures to ensure consistency and adherence to company policies.
  • Complex Case Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of high-risk cases, making informed decisions and providing clear justifications.
  • Pre-Underwriting: Engage with High Net Worth customers, responding to their inquiries and providing expert advice on underwriting-related matters.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously review and refine internal processes to ensure seamless end-to-end service delivery.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports, analyzing trends and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Training and Development: Conduct training sessions for internal and external customers on underwriting-related topics and share expertise with team members.

Requirements:

  • A degree holder with professional insurance qualifications such as FLMI, ACS, ALU or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8 years of solid underwriting experience in life insurance, with at least 4 years in a supervisory/managerial role.
  • Hold underwriting medical authority of not less than extra mortality 100%, with high net worth experience being preferable.
  • Experience in process management and transformation will be advantageous.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and ability to identify data sources and analyze information to construct a case with reasonable recommendations and decisions.
  • A strong sense of compliance, ethics, and integrity, taking ownership of decisions and actions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Open to new ideas and suggestions, attentive to details, and willing to learn.
  • Proficient in both spoken and written Chinese, English, and Cantonese.
  • Familiar with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
