Job Description

Cathay Pacific Airways Limited seeks an IT Solutions Director to lead our technology direction and solution delivery within a business domain.

About the Role

The IT Solutions Director will be responsible for delivering high-quality IT products or applications to the business. Key responsibilities may be categorized into five areas:

  • Business Engagement

The IT Solutions Director will support pre-project consulting for a portfolio pipeline of initiatives, capture and communicate business direction, challenges, and requirements, support business process change, and recommend commercially and technically viable ideas to improve business performance.

  • Technology Design and Implementation

The IT Solutions Director will work closely with developers, analysts, and architects to architect and develop the best technical design, conceptualize and propose solution approaches, plan, design, develop, implement, and support IT products and applications to meet customer needs, provide an escalation point for solution analysts in order to deliver business solutions that include technology implementations and/or adaptations, recommend and implement simple continuous improvement of standard Cathay IT Practices, keep abreast of latest trends in technology, industry, and corresponding business domain, ensure compliance with security protocols and data protection standards, and manage application maintenance and strive for continuous improvements within the application lifecycle.

  • Project Delivery

The IT Solutions Director will focus on small to medium scale initiatives, initiate, define, plan, and execute tasks/initiatives, test all solution aspects including but not limited to security, performance, integration, facilitate project progress through relevant gates, manage day-to-day activities of the software development team and external 3rd parties as required, contribute to team resource planning, and manage external 3rd parties as required.

  • People Management

The IT Solutions Director may also be directly involved in implementing solutions in an Agile development team, directly manage one or more Solution Analysts, perform the role of surrogate Product Owner/BU SME (generally Senior), coach Solution Analysts on any aspect of their role, take up the role of solution architect for small to medium scale initiatives, POCs, and drive the end-to-end solution design and delivery.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Minimum: Degree qualification in Information Technology related discipline, Masters degree preferred
  • 8+ years of related IT experience covering but not limited to: Software development, System analysis, Business analysis, Solution architecture and design, System Testing
  • Strong familiarity and experience with solution design and delivery using cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and mobile platforms such as iOS
  • Development experience of web/mobile application using modern technologies, e.g. Swift, ReactNative, ReactJS for frontend; Java Spring Boot and NodeJS in containerized environments like Openshift and Docker is a plus
  • Experience with system integration using technologies like IBM MQ Series, RESTful API, SOAP Webservices, Websocket etc.
  • Advanced expertise in software development methodologies –Agile and DevSecOps is essential
  • Strong understanding of current technology concepts, trends, and capabilities
  • Client facing experience with successful relationship management is a plus
  • Experience in collaborating with multiple cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill
  • Professional, passionate, innovative, self-motivated, and able to present solutions to diverse groups of stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, leveraging both logic and creativity
  • Proven troubleshooting skills; ability to identify patterns and generate ideas
  • Knowledge in security and compliance practices and technologies
  • Airline or travel industry knowledge is highly beneficial
  • Knowledge about aircraft e-enablement, digital aircraft defect management is highly beneficial
  • Familiarity with generative AI technologies and their application in automating processes, enhancing decision-making, and creating innovative solutions is highly beneficial
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft 365 Power Platform and its capabilities towards process automation integration is highly beneficial
Benefits

Cathay Pacific Airways Limited offers a competitive salary range of HKD $250,000 - HKD $350,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
