Department Overview

The Risk Management division is tasked with overseeing the risks associated with the Group's operational activities, ensuring alignment with the risk appetite set forth by the Board. This includes the identification and evaluation of risks, the development of robust risk governance frameworks, and the provision of independent assessments of the overall risk landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head of Operational Risk in the upkeep of the bank's operational and technology risk register, including incident documentation, risk gap identification, and control measures.
  • Perform assessments of technology risk management and offer critical insights regarding products and projects.
  • Identify, evaluate, mitigate, monitor, and report on operational and technology risk challenges; prepare comprehensive documentation and reports for management and committees.
  • Collaborate with various teams and departments to formulate operational risk mitigation strategies and track the progress of action plans.
  • Coordinate with IT, Business, Compliance, and Regulatory bodies regarding significant IT-related incidents.
  • Support periodic evaluations and assessments of technology risk domains, including IT Outsourcing, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity Planning, and monitoring controls.
  • Develop, maintain, disseminate, and implement policies, standards, and guidelines for technology risk management.
  • Partner with information technology teams to manage information security risks effectively.
  • Provide expert advice on banking application security, focusing on the latest trends and threats in cybersecurity.
  • Cultivate and sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders throughout the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Studies, Information Systems, or related fields, complemented by relevant professional certifications.
  • Over 7 years of experience in Operational Risk, Cybersecurity, IT Risk, IT Compliance, IT Audit, or related sectors within the Financial Services industry.
  • Familiarity with technology regulatory frameworks, including HKMA SPM, HKMA Circulars, and customer data protection regulations.
  • Knowledge of technology risk frameworks, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Experience in managing vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, code reviews, and technology risk evaluations.
  • Relevant practitioner status for HKMA's ECF-Cybersecurity is advantageous.
