Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Middle Office Operations Associate to join our team at Strachan Clark. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our fund's trading activities and maintaining the integrity of post-trade processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Trade Support & Booking: Ensure accurate trade booking and confirmation across various asset classes (equities, fixed income, derivatives, etc.), working closely with traders and portfolio managers.
  • Reconciliation: Perform daily reconciliations of trades, positions, cash, and P&L between the hedge fund, prime brokers, and fund administrators, ensuring that discrepancies are identified and resolved efficiently.
  • Settlements: Oversee the settlement process for trades, ensuring timely and accurate settlement across multiple markets and counterparties.
  • Corporate Actions: Monitor and process corporate actions (dividends, stock splits, mergers, etc.), ensuring that all relevant information is captured and communicated to the appropriate teams.
  • P&L Reporting: Assist in the production of daily P&L reports, ensuring accuracy and timely distribution to senior management and portfolio managers.
  • Risk & Compliance: Work closely with the compliance team to ensure that all trades and operations adhere to regulatory requirements and internal controls.
  • Client & Counterparty Interaction: Liaise with prime brokers, fund administrators, and counterparties to resolve trade discrepancies, settlement issues, and ensure smooth operational workflows.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously review and optimise middle office processes to increase efficiency, reduce risk, and improve overall operational performance.
What We Are Looking For:
  • 1-5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a similar role, with a strong desire to transition into hedge fund operations.
  • A solid understanding of accounting principles, with experience in reconciliations, reporting, and financial statements.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with traders, portfolio managers, prime brokers, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software/tools. Experience with trade booking systems is a plus, but not required.
  • A proactive, self-motivated individual who can thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
