Job Summary

The City University of Hong Kong is seeking a highly skilled Fire Services Operations Specialist to oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of fire services and interfacing systems in campus buildings, staff quarters, student hostels, and off-campus areas.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring fire service installations comply with statutory requirements and are in a continuous ready state;
  • Preparing specifications for maintenance and alteration works;
  • Coordinating and supervising contractors' works according to contract requirements;
  • Supervising in-house staff for minor maintenance, repair, and inspection works;
  • Assisting in the coordination of fire drills and provision of technical training;
  • Attending to emergency calls;
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

The appointee is required to work on night shift and perform on-call duties.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Fire Services, Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, with a valid safety training course certificate;
  • At least 10 years' hands-on experience in operation, maintenance, or project works related to fire services operation and maintenance;
  • Good knowledge of design and operation of fire service installations and systems in compliance with statutory regulations;
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, and proficiency in MS Office applications;
  • Strong sense of risk awareness and responsibility, commitment to teamwork, good interpersonal skills, and ability to manage in-house and out-sourced works.

Preference will be given to candidates with substantial work experience in fire services in higher education institutions.

Candidates with less relevant experience may be considered for appointment as Technical Officer.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

The remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract, with fringe benefits including gratuity, leave, medical, and dental schemes.
