Senior Fire Services Officer

The City University of Hong Kong is seeking a highly experienced Senior Technical Officer to join its Facilities Management team. The appointee will be responsible for overseeing the operation, upgrading, repair, and maintenance of all fire services and interfacing systems in campus buildings, staff quarters, student hostels, and off-campus areas.
Main duties include:
- Ensuring fire service installation is in full compliance with statutory requirements and in a continuous ready state;
- Preparing specifications for the procurement of maintenance and alteration works;
- Coordinating and supervising contractors' works according to contract requirements;
- Supervising in-house staff for minor maintenance, repair, and inspection works;
- Assisting in the coordination of fire drills and provision of technical training;
- Attending to emergency calls;
- Performing any other duties as assigned.
The appointee is required to work on night shift and perform on-call duties.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree/Higher Diploma/Higher Certificate in Fire Services/Building Services/Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering or related disciplines, with a valid safety training course certificate;
- At least 10 years' hands-on experience in operation, maintenance, or project works related to fire services operation and maintenance;
- Good knowledge of design and operation of fire service installations and systems in compliance with statutory regulations;
- Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; and proficiency in MS Office applications;
- Strong sense of risk awareness and responsibility; commitment to teamwork; good interpersonal skills; capability to manage in-house and out-sourced works; and self-motivation with ability to work independently under pressure against tight schedules.
- Preference will be given to candidates with substantial work experience in fire services in higher education institutions.
Candidates with less relevant experience may be considered for appointment as Technical Officer.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.
