About the Opportunity
The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology invites applications for a senior research faculty position in Mechanics and Materials Science.
We seek an exceptional candidate to join our team, bringing expertise in solid mechanics and advanced materials. Successful applicants will have a PhD in mechanical engineering, materials science and engineering, or related fields, with a strong track record of academic, research and/or industrial experience.
As a senior research faculty member, you will be expected to establish an externally-funded research program and contribute to both undergraduate and graduate teaching across the department. You will also have opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across the university, leveraging world-class facilities to drive innovative research.

- Teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students
- Collaborate with colleagues on multidisciplinary projects
What We Offer
The successful candidate will enjoy a highly competitive salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, including medical and dental coverage, annual leave, and housing, will be provided where applicable. Appointment for Professor will be on a substantive basis, while Assistant/Associate Professor appointments will typically be for a three-year contract with a gratuity payable upon successful completion.
