Job Overview

BESIX is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Purchaser to join our team in Tanzania. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for managing the procurement of materials and spare parts required for our project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the procurement of materials and spare parts required for our project, ensuring timely delivery and quality control.
  • Provide technical assistance and know-how to suppliers, aiming to add value to the project and the client.
  • Develop and implement cost reduction programs within equipment categories, leveraging commercial levers, market knowledge, synergies, and technical improvements.
  • Maintain a suppliers' database, including market intelligence and pricing information.
  • Collaborate with the project team, equipment responsible, and other support services to ensure seamless procurement processes.
  • Report to the Project Director on site and ensure accountability for the quality and professionalism of procurement service delivery.
  • Consult effectively with internal customers and suppliers, and efficiently collaborate with the project team and other internal clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master degree in a technical or commercial field.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience as a Technical Buyer in a multinational and complex environment.
  • Experience in construction or civil works, and/or implementation of an ERP is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of English, with other languages an asset.
  • Persevering, enthusiastic, and entrepreneurial, with a strong sense of responsibility, ethics, and flexibility.
  • Great negotiator and able to deal with complex and difficult customer demands.
  • Active listening skills and ability to communicate effectively.

Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be willing to work in Tanzania as an expat in a remote location.
