About the Role

Cathay Pacific Airways Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Solution Lead to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for driving technology direction and solution delivery within a business domain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operation Management
    • Collaborate with different teams and/or other departments to ensure customer service standards are met throughout the incident management, problem management, and change management process.
    • Ensure operations maintenance and support schedules are fully complied with. Consult and evaluate vendor recommendations/solutions where appropriate.
    • Support the team on a scheduled 7x24 shift roster (including Saturday, Sunday, and Public Holiday).
    • Provide timely feedback to internal customers to allow a fair opportunity to address and recover from performance issues.
    • Coordinate activities to resolve incidents and restore normal service.
    • Handle major incidents, crisis management, and escalation in accordance with pre-defined processes, when required.
  • Business Engagement
    • Drive to provide pre-project consulting for a portfolio pipeline of initiatives.
    • Understand, capture, and communicate business direction, challenges, and requirements.
    • Focus on medium to large-scale initiatives.
    • Support and participate in business process change.
    • Identify ways to drive growth, productivity, and improvement for the Airlines.
    • Drive to develop and maintain a cross-departmental view of IT and business.
    • Interact and work closely with solution providers or internal senior management.
    • Co-create the product roadmap with the business.
    • Challenge the business on their assumptions and justifications in a constructive manner to keep resources on Cathay Pacific's best interests.
  • Technology Design and Implementation
    • Cross-team collaboration with developers, analysts, and architects to architect and develop the best technical design. Conceptualize and propose solution approaches based on the latest technology (including but not limited to Oracle databases, Angular, Windows/Unix/Linux script, PL/SQL, Java/C#, PHP).
    • Planning, designing, developing, implementing, and supporting IT products and applications to meet customer and IT needs.
    • Facilitate design walkthroughs with IT and business people to validate solutions against business requirements and IT architecture.
    • Provide an escalation point for solution analysts to deliver business solutions that include technology implementations and/or adaptations.
    • Generate ideas and develop new approaches to improve overall system design and/or streamline delivery of product/system.
    • Keep abreast of the latest trends in technology, industry, and corresponding business domain.
    • Cross-team collaboration with the application manager to contribute to the strategic roadmap.
  • Project Delivery
    • Focus on medium to large-scale initiatives.
    • Accountable to initiate, define, plan, and execute tasks/initiatives.
    • Drive to test all solution aspects, including but not limited to security, performance, integration.
    • Facilitate project progress through relevant gates.
    • Manage the day-to-day activities of the software development team and external 3rd parties as required.
    • Proactively ensure that team members are provided with the necessary organizational insight to make effective decisions.
    • Accountable for making timely risk mitigation decisions and mobilizing resources for projects by considering operational and financial metrics.
  • People Management
    • Accountable for team resource planning.
    • Manage external 3rd parties as required.
    • Provide direction and mentorship to less experienced people.
    Requirements
    • Degree qualification in Information Technology-related discipline.
    • 8 years of related IT experience in application development.
    • Proven experience in system support and troubleshooting skills.
    • Experience in providing 24/7 incident support.
    • Experience managing a software development team.
    • Certifications in ITIL are desirable.
    • Able to handle multiple tasks and coordinate tasks/problem-solving with multiple IT groups, service suppliers, and business users.
    • Experience with the utilization of outsourced and/or globally distributed resources.
    • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, leveraging both logic and creativity.
