IB Operations Middle Office Specialist

Responsibilities Provide operational support to Equity Derivatives business, including Solutions and Public Distribution Desks, for activity from initial launch to final redemption, and lifecycle events. Handle activities such as trade issuance and lifecycle processing, engage external parties (Fund Admin, Custodian, Paying Agent) and internal partners (Sales & Trading, Settlements & Confirmation, Legal, Finance, etc.) to provide operational support and independent advice on related processes. Review and resolve complex trade issues and act as a bridge between stakeholders such as Business, Operations, Compliance, Finance, and external parties. Analyse internal workflows across the product offering and work with internal partners to design and implement operational improvements. Support on-going improvement projects, drive process enhancements, participate in new business initiatives and user testing. Comprehend the risk and control framework for processes followed within Middle Office and ensure relevant controls are adhered to. Understand internal trade booking models and risk management. Review bookings to ensure they are within UBS booking policies and meet regulatory requirements; collaborate with project and governance teams (COO/Compliance/IT) on new regulatory requirements. Your team You’ll be working in the IB Operations Middle Office in Hong Kong. The team provides support for activities from trade inception to life cycle processing, monitoring control, preparing reports and financial audit, until trade redemption / maturity. They act as a business face-off to internal and external stakeholders. Team overview This team within Operations supports various businesses in APAC, including QIS Structured Fund, SPV, and Public Distribution. It monitors key controls to ensure trade’s front-to-back flow is accurately represented. Each member balances business-as-usual line tasks while engaging in tactical and strategic enhancements to booking flows, processes, and controls. Qualifications Bachelor’s / Master’s degree or equivalent. 2-4 years of experience in IB operations, Cash Equity, Derivatives Middle Office, Settlement, or related areas. General knowledge of front to back processes for Equity Derivatives or SPV products. Ability to pick up new tasks quickly in a fast-paced environment. Good working knowledge of Excel, excellent quantitative and analytical skills. Pragmatic “can do” attitude and risk mindset; full accountability to take ownership and drive improvements. Self-starter who learns quickly, highly responsible and self-motivated, works well under pressure. Dedicated team player who collaborates well with different functions.
