Senior Legal Counsel

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Attorney to join our regional legal team based in Hong Kong, providing legal support to the company’s business units in Asia Pacific region with specific focus on Hong Kong and Singapore. As part of a small regional team, you will need to be able to provide legal support on a broad range of matters including draft and negotiation of IT related sales and procurement contracts, advise internal stakeholders on legal and compliance matters relating to cybersecurity, data privacy, intellectual property rights protection and manage commercial claims and disputes to protect the company’s interests. You will also be required to conduct legal research and assist in the development of contract templates to support new technology service offerings. You will Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of technology related contracts including software licensing agreements, SaaS agreements, IT services agreements, AI and Data related agreements and various types of technology sales and procurement contracts. Draft, review and negotiate general commercial contracts including teaming and subcontracting agreements, leases / tenancy agreements, collaboration agreement, MSA, NDA, data privacy addendum. Advise on intellectual property rights, including copyright, licensing and open-source software issues. Advise and conduct training on data privacy compliance and cybersecurity regulations. Manage claims, disputes and risk mitigation related to technology contracts and IP matters. Collaborate closely with procurement, cybersecurity, data privacy and IT teams to ensure alignment on contractual and regulatory requirements. Monitor and advise on evolving technology, privacy and cybersecurity laws and best practices. Working closely with all the team members, you will play an important part in shaping legal objectives, service provision, strategy execution and culture of the legal team. You will provide practical and pragmatic legal advice to the company’s internal stakeholders. Help to implement legal strategy designed to mitigate risks and provide solutions in line with the business’s objectives for growth. Assist in delivering training to business teams to foster employees’ understanding of legal processes and support rendered by the legal team. You will assist in the development of new contract templates to support new service offerings. Ensure all contracts comply with the company’s contract and compliance processes, procedures and policies. Provide strategic, practical and pragmatic advice and solutions on contractual risks, liabilities and negotiation strategies. Advise on claims, potential dispute and ad-hoc matters. You Bring Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Hong Kong or Common Law based country. Qualified to practice law in Hong Kong or other Common Law jurisdictions. 8 – 12 years (in-house and law firm experiences preferred). Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in handling technology related contracts, preferably with both private practice and in-house exposure. Proven expertise in drafting and negotiating IT sales and procurement contracts. Strong knowledge of intellectual property law, data privacy and cybersecurity regulations. Experience in managing claims and disputes in technology and IP contexts. Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to provide clear, practical legal advice. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities. Experience in advising AI and digital platforms is an advantage. Must be proficient in both written and spoken English and native /fluent in Cantonese. Mandarin skill is a plus. High attention to detail and strong organization skills. Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a challenging environment. Strong inter-personal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with the legal team members and internal stakeholders.
