Assistant Manager Safety and Risk Management - Airworthiness

Department: Safety and Risk Management (Airline Safety, Quality and Security)

Main Purpose of the Role:

Supports the Manager Safety and Risk Management and/or Head of Safety and Risk Management in the implementation of the AHK QMS, SMS, AVSEC. In more detail with his or her background in aircraft maintenance, he or she will support the Manager Safety and Risk Management and/or Head of Safety and Risk Management in the areas of Safety Management Quality Assurance and Security, including QMS, SMS, SeMS, IOSA, FDAP, BCP, CORSIA, Sustainability, TKE & AQD.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Deputizes the Manager Safety and Risk Management and/or Head of Safety and Risk Management if not in the office as may be required.
  • Interact internally/externally representing AHK in Safety and Risk Management activities, to ensure AHK safety, quality and security standards are maintained.
  • Coordinates with CX Engineering on any mandatory reporting with HK CAD Airworthiness Office and provides regular update of reportable occurrences on AHK aircraft or maintenance operations that could affect safety and airworthiness.
  • Liaises and monitors AHK contractors, and other AHK departments, investigates and reports on aircraft incidents, occurrences and MORs as required to ensure AHK’s safety, quality and security standards are maintained and enhanced.
  • Serves as the Document Control Coordinator (DCC) and maintains the AHK Document Management Contracts File system in accordance with QMS requirements.
  • Performs unsupervised duty travel assignments internal (departmental) and external audits/inspections in conjunction with safety, quality and security objectives.
  • Assists the Flight Data Analysis Program (FDAP), maintain & manages the Aviation Quality Database (AQD), compiles safety statistics, prepares reports as required/requested and participates in the Air Safety Review (ASRC) Committee and other safety meetings, internally and externally, representing AHK.
  • Provides support as directed, in internal preparation and administration of the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) and assists in maintaining internal compliance as required.
  • Provides support and assists in implementing E&A activities.
  • Provides support and assists in the areas of Computer Based Training (CBT) in the areas of Safety, Quality, Sustainability, CO2 emissions and CORSIA, AHK Sustainability activities, all Swire Group reports, Business Continuity Plans (BCP), obtaining operation permits from various National Aviation Authorities (NAAs).
  • Invigilates Theoretical Knowledge Examinations (TKE) in accordance with HK CAD requirements and ensure integrity of the examination system and procedures.
  • Other ad hoc duties as defined or assigned by Manager Safety and Risk Management and/or Head of Safety and Risk Management.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Tertiary Education with a relevant Engineering degree (Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Avionic or other relevant studies), or an aircraft maintenance license holder acceptable to AHK, or equivalent experience. Candidates with Aviation Management Education (specialisation) will have an advantage;
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in the aircraft engineering or maintenance, or equivalent;
  • Fluent in spoken and written English, Cantonese, and preferably in Mandarin;
  • Proficient in MS Office and preferably with the experience of RR SMS solutions;
  • Excellent knowledge of HK CAD regulations and it would be advantageous if any of the following courses have been accomplished, in the recent past: Hong Kong Airworthiness Course, Human Factors, Safety Management System, Quality Management System, Lead Auditor Course;
  • Knowledge of HK CAD and other regulatory requirements such as CAAC, EASA, FAA;
  • Familiarity with airline quality systems, safety and security systems;
  • Ability to clearly express company expectations on technical aspects;
  • Good team player with excellent communication, business, interpersonal, organizational, planning, project management and problem-solving skills;
  • Proactive, collaborative, and with good analytical skills and a 'Can-do' spirit.
