(Assistant) Manager, Payment and Card Operations WeLab, a leading pan‑Asian fintech platform, operates two digital banks – WeLabBank and Bank Saqu – and offers multiple online financial services across Hong Kong, Mainland China, and Indonesia. What you’ll do and what success looks like in this role Lead and oversee end‑to‑end card operations, including account maintenance, outsourced card personalization vendor management, and add‑on service setup, ensuring adherence to defined KPIs. Manage and optimize daily activities for the Bank’s debit card operations across multiple currencies, including payment processing, chargebacks, settlement, and related support functions. Initiate and own projects related to process streamlining, AI automation, and system enhancements to improve operational efficiency. Design, implement, and enhance card operations policies and procedures to improve efficiency, compliance, and risk control. Ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of all card transaction exceptions and settlement across currencies. Analyze and resolve complex transaction issues, including fraud cases, operational discrepancies, and multi‑currency settlement challenges. Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners (e.g., Mastercard, settlement banks) to maintain operational excellence and regulatory compliance. What is required and what we’re looking for University degree or equivalent, with 7+ years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial capacity. Strong expertise in multi‑currency debit card operations, settlement processes, and reconciliation. Solid understanding of operational risk management, compliance requirements, and process optimization. Ability to lead a team effectively, work independently, and manage multiple priorities under tight timelines. Excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese. Knowledge of Mastercard DI and experience with other major card schemes is preferred. Proven track record in multi‑currency settlement and cross‑border card operations is a strong advantage. Experience with AI, automation, or process transformation is an advantage. Candidate with less experience will be considered as Assistant Manager.
