The Global Applications Developer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting computer applications used by Meiyume globally. The role includes designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining software applications. The role is also responsible to resolve application incidents within service level agreement thresholds whilst analysing how to ensure the root cause of these incidents isresolved to prevent reoccurrence. The role will also work on data interfacing improvement opportunities to streamline cross application communication.
Application Development and Delivery
- Design, develop, and implement software applications that meet global business requirements.
- Deliver high-quality software solutions within agreed-upon timelines and budgets.
Innovation and Improvement
- Continuously research and implement new technologies and development practices to improve application performance and enhance functionality.
- Propose innovative solutions to business challenges, contributing to the competitive edge of the organization.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of applications through rigorous testing and quality assurance practices.
- Address and rectify bugs and performance issues in a timely manner.
Team Collaboration and Leadership
- Collaborate effectively with local and global project teams, including developers, designers, and project managers, to ensure cohesive and coordinated effort in application development.
Customer Satisfaction
- Engage with internal or external customers to gather and understand their requirements and feedback.
- Ensure that the developed applications meet or exceed customer expectations in terms of functionality, usability, and reliability.
Compliance and Security
- Adhere to all relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in software development, including data protection and cybersecurity measures.
- Ensure application compliance with global regulations affecting the business or industry.
Project Management
- Participate in project planning, scheduling, and monitoring activities.
- Effectively manage project resources and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
Technical Documentation
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for developed applications, including user guides, system architecture, and API documentation.
- Ensure documentation is accessible and understandable to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
Performance Tuning and Scalability
- Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
- Address scalability challenges proactively, ensuring the applications can handle growth in users and data volume.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with cross-functional teams, including IT support, marketing, sales, and product management, to ensure applications align with broader business strategies and objectives.

- Super users.
- Fung Group.
- Meiyume technology team.
- Meiyume Data and Insights team.
- Business teams globally.
External
- Service providers.
- Technology vendors / suppliers.
Education and Experience (MUST HAVE)
- Bachelor’s degree, diploma or certificate in Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in software development, application design and application support.
- Extensive knowledge of programming languages, such as C#, Java, Ruby, C++, or Python.
- Knowledge of database management systems, such as MySQL, Progress or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with user interface design principles and methodologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong sense of responsibilities, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis and problem-solving.
- Experience working in a global environment with cross-functional and/or multicultural teams.
- Familiar with managing external vendors and able to communicate with users across all levels.
- Interested in and able to work with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
- Good command of written and spoken English, Cantonese, Putonghua/Mandarin, French, Thai, or Indonesian Bahasa speaking and writing ability is an advantage.
Preferred Criteria (NICE TO HAVE)
- Knowledge of low code development, such as OutSystems
- Experience working with automation technologies like UIPath, Microsoft, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, Selenium, Appium, or TestComplete highly regarded.
The Global Applications Developer plays a vital role in developing, maintaining, and supporting computer applications across Meiyume. They work with multiple teams to ensure effective deployment,
troubleshooting and support of software applications. They also bridge the gap between technology and business requirements in an organisation. This role works with Meiyume's businesses globally across eight
locations including United States, United Kingdom, France, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and China.
Joint responsibility for ensuring the highest possible satisfaction of business team members at Meiyume locations globally through effective design, implementation, and support. Any interruption or outage of
any component of the application automation could cause an immediate discontinuance in the ability for:
- Manufacturing sites to manufacture products,
- Warehouses / distribution centres to ship products and receive raw materials,
- Offices to communicate using tools such productivity tools and critical ERP systems.
In short, Meiyume’s business could come to an immediate halt if the responsibilities of this position are not executed to an extremely high level of standard. The cost impact of such an outage would far exceed the annual budget for which the position maintains responsibility.
