Reporting to the Lead Engineer – Process Control, the appointee will be responsible for the software & data maintenance, as well as implementation of control computer systems in the System Control Centre and the Backup System Control Centre to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations of the power systems. Major duties include:
  • Direct and perform daily operations of the control computer systems, including Advanced Distribution Management System, Emergency Backup System and Energy Management System, to ensure reliable and high availability services are provided for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the power network.
  • Ensure the process control system projects are commissioned on time, and to the required standard by proper project planning and scheduling, co-ordination, progress monitoring and supervising the system installation, testing and commissioning activities.
  • Formulate the engineering guidelines and standards and ensure proper engineering practices are followed for the maintenance of the control computer systems, including implementation of bug fixes, enhancements of existing software, and development of new applications.
  • Direct and perform the implementation and maintenance of the power system network models, real-time and historical databases among the control computer systems.
  • Implement Information Security control measures on the control computer systems, which includes but not limited to Firewall, Anti-virus, vulnerability scanning and security software setup and maintenance.
  • Conduct periodic review and enforce the Information Security control measures on the control computer systems.
  • Responsible for Windows & Linux Server environment and network infrastructure setup, management and monitoring, which includes but not limited to Active Directory service, Database, Virtual server, Backup, etc.
  • Supervise and monitor the installation and commissioning of systems and telemetry facilities to comply with Information Technology (IT) / Operational Technology (OT) standards.
  • Provide project management support to control computer systems projects.
  • Provide support to the continual improvements of processes in the Integrated Management System.
  • Supervise and train up junior engineers.
  • Perform any other duties including standby duties as assigned by supervisor when required.

Requirements:

  • A recognized university degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years' relevant working experience in software engineering of IT / OT systems, or other relevant software works.
  • Professional credentials in system administration, operational technology & cybersecurity is preferable e.g. Microsoft certifications, CISSP, CISA, etc.
  • Solid experience on Windows & Linux servers, MS SQL & Oracle database, VMware ESXi, network switch implementation, setup or maintenance.
  • Proficient in computer system design, implementation, testing, administration and maintenance.
  • Proficient in computer programming skills, PowerShell, Linux shell script, C#, Visual Basic, C++, VB.NET, Python.
  • Knowledge of power system operations and protection schemes would be an advantage.
  • Good communication, presentation and problem-solving skills.
  • Mindful and possess good safety awareness.

Candidates with less qualification and/or experience but demonstrate good potential for further development will be considered for a position at lower grade.
