Operation Manager

The Opportunity This is a high-impact, strategic role designed for a unique individual who can bridge the gap between operational management, technology, and data science. You will be the architect of our future operational framework, tasked with diagnosing inefficiencies across our entire Hong Kong and China workflow and building intelligent, data-driven solutions from the ground up. You will not just manage operations; you will redesign them for the AI age. Key Responsibilities 1) End-to-End Process Analysis & Optimization: Conduct a comprehensive analysis of the entire manufacturing and operational workflow, from order intake in Hong Kong to final shipment from our China factory. Identify bottlenecks, quality control issues, and logistical inefficiencies. Develop and implement robust, scalable solutions to improve throughput, reduce waste, and enhance overall productivity. 2) AI & Automation Integration: Identify and spearhead the implementation of AI and machine learning solutions to solve complex operational challenges (e.g., predictive maintenance for machinery, demand forecasting, gemstone yield optimization, automated quality inspection). Leverage data analytics to create dynamic production planning and inventory management models. Lead the evaluation, customization, or ground-up development of our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Ensure the ERP is tailored to the specific needs of a jewelry manufacturing business (tracking precious metals, gemstones, work-in-progress, etc.). Build and integrate other necessary software tools to create a seamless digital ecosystem. 4) Data-Driven Decision Making: Develop and maintain a suite of KPIs and dashboards to provide real-time visibility into all aspects of the business for management in both Hong Kong and China. Apply advanced mathematical and statistical models to optimize pricing, cost control, and resource allocation. Collaborate with and train teams in both Hong Kong and China to ensure smooth adoption of new systems and processes. Act as the key liaison between commercial strategy and factory-floor execution. The Ideal Candidate (Qualifications & Skills) 1) Non-Negotiable Core Skills: Proven Experience in Operations Management, preferably within manufacturing (jewelry, precision engineering, or luxury goods is a major plus). Demonstrable AI/Machine Learning Ability: You have hands-on experience in developing, implementing, or integrating AI solutions to solve real-world business problems. Program/ERP Building Expertise: Strong proficiency in at least one major programming language (Python, SQL, etc.) and proven experience in customizing, configuring, or developing ERP systems (e.g., Odoo, SAP, NetSuite, or a custom-built solution). Exceptional Analytical & Mathematical Skills: Ability to model complex processes, analyze data, and draw actionable insights. A strong foundation in statistics and logical reasoning is essential. 2) Highly Preferred "Minor" Specializations: Engineering Mindset: A background or minor in (Industrial, Mechanical, or Software) Engineering is highly valued for your systematic approach to problem-solving. Financial Acumen: A background or minor in Finance, or proven experience in cost accounting, budgeting, and financial modeling within an operational context. 3) Personal Attributes: Strategic, systems-level thinker who sees the "big picture." Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of driving projects independently. Excellent communicator, able to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
