$50k - $90k p.m. + Year-End Bonus, Medical We are seeking a commercially driven Chartering Manager to lead the chartering activities for a fleet of dry bulk vessels. This role is responsible for maximizing fleet utilization and profitability through strategic chartering, market analysis, and strong stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of the dry bulk market, strong financial acumen, and a proactive approach to business development. A well-established, privately held dry bulk shipowner with a global trading fleet, including a dedicated cement carrier on long-term charter. The company operates with a lean, professional team and focuses on Asia-centric commodities such as coal, iron ore, and grain, while maintaining strategic exposure to Atlantic markets. Ship management is outsourced, and the organization emphasizes strong corporate governance and data-driven commercial strategies. Description Oversee end-to-end operations for the dry bulk vessels (Kamsarmax, Ultramax, Supramax), ensuring efficient shipping schedules and compliance with contractual terms. Exercise CP rights to protect owners' interests, negotiating terms and mitigating risks for Supramax and Kamsarmax vessels during spot and COA deals. Review and validate off-hire and underperformance claims from charterers, leveraging analytical skills to minimize profit losses through effective dispute resolution. Handle negotiations for commercial disputes in Mandarin and English, securing favorable outcomes and safeguarding owners' financial and operational interests. Conduct port-specific risk evaluations for dry bulk operations, implementing safety measures to enhance vessel efficiency and crew protection. Monitor onboard cargo hold cleaning processes, ensuring readiness and adherence to industry standards for Supramax and Kamsarmax cargo operations. Assist in drafting and reviewing CP terms, preparing clearance documents, and supporting voyage planning for seamless execution. Prepare and verify invoices for charterers, ensuring accuracy and timely payments to maintain cash flow, while optimizing bunker procurement costs. Administer Letters of Indemnity (LOI) and Bills of Lading (B/L), ensuring legal and contractual compliance across all vessel transactions. Track dry bulk market trends and pricing dynamics, providing insights to support spot deal calculations and COA pricing strategies. Coordinate with ship crews, port agents, and charterers using fluent Mandarin and English, ensuring smooth communication and operational alignment. Propose process improvements for vessel operations, enhancing turnaround times and cost-effectiveness for Kamsarmax and Ultramax fleet management. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Business, Maritime Studies, or related field; MBA or professional shipping qualifications (e.g., FICS, ICS) preferred. 5-7 years of experience in commercial chartering, shipbroking, or freight analytics. Strong knowledge of dry bulk markets, charter party contracts, and S&P processes. Proficiency in financial modelling and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI). Experience with AI-based decision-support tools is a plus. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Fluency in English in a MUST Strategic thinking with strong commercial acumen. Analytical mindset with attention to financial and operational detail.
