BBPOS is now part of Stripe's Terminal business since the acquisition in March 2022. About the team Post acquisition, the BBPOS team is now an extension of the Stripe Terminal team. Stripe Terminal helps Stripe users extend their online presence into the physical world. The Terminal team's mission is to make it as easy for businesses to accept in‑person payments as the Stripe API has done for online payments. With Terminal, businesses can unlock in‑person payments use cases that are right for their business model—whether it’s creating a flagship retail experience, extending their website to a pop‑up store, or enabling a mobile point‑of‑sale at their next event. Examples of products designed by BBPOS for Stripe What you will do Design mechanical components or assemblies with Solidworks modeling based on professional standards. Prepare engineering documents, specifications, DFx and technical reports. Verify mechanical design, drawings and solve technical problems. Provide solutions for engineering problems and take initiatives to lead and plan problem‑solving activities. Create and maintain engineering documents required for project planning and product development gate review. Review mechanical design and assess manufacturability of new designs. Analyze and verify mechanical design independently and solve technical problems using scientific approaches, such as mathematics, physics, prototyping, tolerance analysis, CAE, FEM, simulations, DOE, etc. Control product BOM cost and related design schedule from a mechanical engineering perspective. Prepare mechanical engineering documents such as BOM, component specifications and technical reports, and support FMEA activities. Design fixture and calibration process for high‑precision mechanical assemblies. Verify and qualify components produced from suppliers and participate in pilot production. Support product compliance certification activities. Show independence, responsibility, and self‑initiative. Minimum requirements Degree holder in Mechanical Engineering. A Master in ME or a product‑development related major is preferred. At least 5 years of relevant working experience in product design of plastic and sheet metal with Solidworks. Ability to design plastic housings for products such as smartphones and tablets. Understanding of manufacturing and mechanical production processes. Proficiency in using Mechanical CAD software. SolidWorks is required. Expertise in creating detailed 2D drawings and performing tolerance calculations. Understanding mold design, FAI and CPK. Experience managing vendors and factories. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese. Required to travel internationally. Experience less than the minimum will still be considered for a mechanical engineer role. Preferred qualifications Experience with designing products similar to cell phones and tablets. Experience with POS hardware and peripherals. Knowledge and expertise of PCI technology, material properties, manufacturing processes. Understanding of material and plastic properties, including thermal calculations. Proficiency in mechanical simulation and metal part design. Skills in industrial design and rendering.
