Senior Data Scientist

Pinpoint Asia is representing a premier global financial services firm. We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Senior Data Scientist to join a dynamic Data Insights & Strategy team. This is not a typical analytics role. We are looking for an entrepreneurial and creative individual who can move beyond standard reporting to build and deploy sophisticated predictive models and Generative AI solutions. You will be a key driver in shaping the firm's data strategy, tackling complex business challenges in areas like risk, fraud detection, and client strategy. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter with a passion for data inquisition, who can independently manage projects from concept to production and possesses the gravitas to translate complex data "stories" into actionable insights for senior leadership. Key Responsibilities: Advanced Modelling: Design, develop, and deploy a range of sophisticated machine learning models (ML/AI) to address critical business problems. Predictive & Descriptive Analytics: Apply advanced statistical techniques for predictive modelling (e.g., forecasting, classification) and descriptive analysis to uncover deep, actionable insights from complex datasets. GenAI & Innovation: Act as a subject matter expert on Generative AI. Lead the rapid prototyping of new GenAI solutions as proof-of-concepts (PoCs) to demonstrate business value, and partner with engineering to scale successful models. Business Consultation: Engage directly with senior business stakeholders to understand their strategic challenges, proactively proposing innovative, data-driven solutions and models. Data Storytelling & Visualization: Develop and maintain advanced, scalable data visualization dashboards (primarily using Power BI) to communicate model outputs and analytical results to a non-technical audience. Strategy & Execution: Contribute to the design and execution of the firm's overarching data science and analytics strategy. Data Governance & Architecture: Champion data governance principles and collaborate with data engineering teams to advise on the strategic development of cloud-based data architecture. Required Qualifications & Skills: A minimum of 7-10 years of hands-on experience in a Data Scientist, Data Modeller, or ML Engineer role. Bachelor's / Master's Degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, or Econometrics. Strong experience within the financial services industry (e.g., wealth management, investment banking, risk management) is highly preferred. Expert-level proficiency in Python, including libraries like pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and TensorFlow/PyTorch. Advanced SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries across large, structured, and unstructured datasets. Proven experience in data visualization and dashboard development, with specific expertise in Power BI. Demonstrable experience applying classical ML models (e.g., Gradient Boosting, Random/Isolation Forests, K-Means). Strong knowledge of Deep Learning and NLP techniques, including Transformers and LSTMs. Practical, hands-on experience building and demonstrating Generative AI solutions. Familiarity with modern, cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, AWS) is a significant advantage. Exceptional "storytelling" ability to articulate complex analytical findings and evidence-based conclusions to senior stakeholders.
